Hello everyone, how are you on this new day? I hope you're in good shape? In any case, this is currently my case at the beginning of December without snow. I hope we will have a little... Well, we'll see. As you can see in the title, we continue in a reading mode this time. Loans? Let's jump into the summary!
A corpse bearing mysterious symbols is discovered in the middle of the night in the corridors of the Rock. For Évared Lezabel, the spiritist fighter, this is the beginning of a complex investigation, with unexpected developments. Especially since the dead man turns out to be the successor of the ruler of Vernathor. Evared is not alone. Jiha, his past love, must work with him and three teenagers without a destiny find themselves embroiled in this mysterious case. The hero will need all his powers and his skill with the sword to unravel the skeins... and protect those whose paths cross hers.
This story may, like many in reality, cause problems for those who have trouble remembering names while reading. Not that they are difficult, but they may seem like a lot and I know that some people can have difficulties at this level. Apart from that, the author's pen will have taken me into the story, this universe in which there are many elements to discover over the pages. The suspense is present, to my delight as well as the investigation which may, however, leave some people hungry. At least, if you only come for that, otherwise you will easily find what you are looking for!
The characters are interesting, in my eyes, and not Manichean. The fact that I could have the point of view of some of the antagonists was also a nice and sweet surprise! It's something I really appreciate – well, I OFTEN have the habit of appreciating them even when they're complete assholes... – and getting to read them made me really happy. We discover elements of this world in the company of each of them, their feelings and especially the difficulties they have to face.
Fluid and titillating curiosity, the novel can easily take the reader on board and this was my case for a few hours. A moment out of time and in another world, a moment to forget the daily worries. Well, we had to face those of the protagonists, but it's different! The fact that the answers come little by little, that subplots are mixed with the main one adds to the desire to discover the rest, until the final page.
So I had a good and pleasant time during this reading which touched me, even if I know that it will not be the case for everyone. It plunged me into a different universe, a place in which I enjoyed getting lost, discovering its nooks and crannies. A sweet surprise that I don't regret!
