How are you today? Are you feeling good? I hope you have some energy to put into reading this article anyway. This time, we're going on a light novel. I'll point it out right away, there's a suicide TW right in the summary. With that, I'll let you discover everything!

After committing suicide, Gwendoline Bourcier finds herself thrust into the fantasy world of Trillia, plagued by demons and archdemons. She's not alone: four other teenagers with unique abilities have been summoned to her side. They become the Lost, a group determined to save the multiverse from the imminent threat of Damahan, a greater entity that will arrive in two years.

Gwendoline possesses a unique power: the ability to transform her emotions into abilities. A gift that proves double-edged in this dangerous world, especially when she comes face to face with Abaguo, a powerful archdemon who seeks to transcend himself by devouring souls.

After flirting with death, Gwendoline suddenly finds herself in charge of the survival of the multiverse with her new friends. How will she find the will to fight for life, when she herself has given up her own?

And above all, what challenges will the Lost have to face over the next two years?

From the first page we discover the trigger warnings present in this first volume and I find it really good to protect those who cannot stand certain subjects at all to the point of harming them. Once this moment has passed, the reader is immersed in the story and discovers Gwendoline.

A rather dark story given the themes addressed, even if we find ourselves in a medieval fantasy world. I am quite used to isekai, having read quite a few and in various forms even if it was often in manga except for Re:Zero and Log Horizon, so I was not very surprised at the beginning when the group was created. The natural questions come: Who are they? Why are they there? Of course, the answers come quickly, but they are present at the very beginning.

What also stands out is the way of speaking that quickly jumps out between the “younger” and the “older” ones, a rather crude way that may not please, just like the violence that can… Well, be violent? Quite simply. The descriptions are really well done at this level, but you shouldn’t be too affected by the latter.

The author's pen is atypical, at least it breaks out of our usual constraints by going straight to the point, without detours. Like in a Light novel, in itself. It is also fluid and descriptive, as you have seen, allowing in addition to discovering this new world, visualizing it, understanding the magic present. The only hiccup felt was the speed of the events because I found that everything followed one another too quickly. I would have liked it to take a little more time in order to immerse myself more deeply in the work. There are also illustrations that help to visualize the various elements, characters, allowed me to better understand certain moments. The two link together wonderfully for my greatest pleasure.

As for the characters, they can be seen as quite stereotypical if you're used to this kind of reading, but I found myself becoming attached to them on various levels, and also suffering at certain times. We discover certain elements about them, their traumas, their ways of doing things, and it's possible to "get closer" to one or the other more easily, or even to want to shake them off from time to time. I really liked the heroine, for example, the one I was most drawn to. Besides, I love her magic! I had never thought of one focused on this element.

This first volume lays the foundations of what this universe wants to offer us, personally it makes me quite curious because I want to know what will happen next. I had an easy time guessing some events, but others pleasantly surprised me and as said it's because I'm used to this genre. Apart from that, I'm sure it will find its audience and may make some people curious!

For my part, if I have the chance, I will read the sequel! Because I am curious and, well, I want to know what the hell is going on! Anyway, on these sweet words, I leave you and see you again soon!

And you, do you plan to try?
