Hello everyone!
How are you today? Not too bad? Good! I'm planning on taking you on a little read for younger readers, but one that can be read at any age. I hope you're ready? We'll be off right away then.
Nine-year-old Téo has been in a wheelchair since an accident rendered his legs useless, as he puts it, and drove his father away.
He lives with Grandpa Robert and his mother in a building that doesn't allow pets. This is a very important point to emphasize for the story, as you'll see in Chapter 11.
At school, no one talks to him, and that's fine. So when Magali, the new girl with two dads, tries to befriend him, it shakes him up so much that he might just start doing what he stopped doing after the accident: being a kid.
A funny and moving novel for ages 8 and up. It explores disability, difference, tolerance, friendship, and kindness.
There's also slam poetry, animals, a cute dog named Roger who pees when he's moved, and of course, roulette!
This novel really touched me with its themes and, I admit, did me good. Really. When I saw it in the Press Service on Simplement.pro, it immediately attracted me and I did well to follow my intuition, to tell myself that yes, it will have an impact on me.
The story is adorable, truly, and addresses many themes present in society in a light-hearted way while maintaining a serious side. Disability, homosexuality, tolerance, grief, single parenting, and more are all found in this short story that can be read in one go.
Even though the novel is for ages 8 and up, it will appeal to all age groups because it deals with everyday elements, things that can affect anyone, whether personally or socially. Throughout the pages, emotion is felt, as is tenderness, the sensation of realizing that, yes, a weakness can become a strength.
I enjoyed discovering characters who are consistent with their ages. It was filled with gentleness, a more childlike yet normal vision of their surroundings. A breath of fresh air despite the elements that can be perceived more harshly in some cases.
The author's pen allows you to be swept away in this candy from which you don't emerge unscathed because it provokes many emotions and reactions. The words impact, touch, and that's what's beautiful, in my eyes. It's fluid, the words flow smoothly before my eyes and allowed me to spend a wonderful time in the company of these little heroes.
A beautiful story that gives courage and allows you to put things into perspective. Thank you to the author for speaking so well about such subjects. I had a good time on each page and at the end of my reading, I left a bubble of well-being. You will therefore have understood that I recommend this novel without hesitation and that it can be read by young and old! On this, I leave you and say see you soon for new adventures, take care of yourself!
And you, do you plan to read it?
